Uncle Joels funeral was beautiful. A wonderful celebration of his very full life. It was great to see people we haven't seen in a long time. He took his last ride in his green truck and we said goodbye. What a giant of a man who touched many lives. Mine included.

We went to the Newport Aquarium with Grandma and Grandpa and Joe and Lindsay. It was a lot of fun! Shawn loved the shark tubes, he laid on the ground "talking" to the sharks swimming under his feet. Haley LOVED the sea otters and little mark loved everything! We had a good time!

Of Joy and Pain

Today we lost our dear Papa Joel. We will miss him greatly! He was such a loving, kind and gentle man. I remember him telling me how he made his rootbeer, of him doing his yard work and giving me an answer to all his questions. Showing me his trains. Smiling while watching the kids play in the sand.
We will miss him dearly, how wonderful it is to know we will see him again!!

Of Joy, we have the arrival of Thomas A. Oscarson today! Mary and Curtis had their baby, 10lbs 7oz boy!

Through both the Lord has shown us his miracles.

Shawns incredible new trick.....WALKING! We just had his 9 month appointment yesterday. Yes, he has a big head. Huge head is more like it. He is only 20 pounds though! 8 pounds shy of haley and mark at this age!

May in a nutshell

We got our garden planted. What a huge deal! I babied those plants in my kitchen for a month before we planted them! Now my babies are safe in the ground surrounded by slug and bug bait so they won't be eaten! I already have 6 or 7 tomatoes 4 or 5 peppers and a bunch of zucchini! (I planted quite a few plants! I'm thinking of renting a farmers market stall this summer on Saturdays)
We also finally put back up our chain link fence around our new driveway! Yeah! Mark, the superdad, brought home a truckload of sand for the sandbox and we filled it. It's now the hang out spot for the neighborhood kids. We have the front yard about half way re-landscaped after it was demolished by the crew doing our driveway. Boy, I tell ya. That roller COMPACTED the ground! I had a hard time even getting a shovel to penetrate the surface. But, it's almost ready for the tons of Bark we'll dump in there. I actually planted my rosemary, lavender, and Japanese eggplant in the front yard. They were too pretty to hide in the back! My clematis is in full bloom and I think I enjoy spening more time outside then in.
Shawn, Haley and Mark spend life outside with me. Shawn loves to crawl around the swingset and swing. He also has aquired a taste for dirt clods, I'm trying to divert his attention to looking at things, rather then tasting them! He suprised us this weekend by trying to stand up by himself! What a smart boy!
Haley and Mark have made friends with the new family that moved in next door and love to play with the kids all day long. Marky rode his bike without the training wheels for the first time this past weekend! (We bribed him) It was a big deal! He has been afraid of it for the longest time. So after a long weekend of yard work, and his showing off on a bike we took off to see UP the new movie in theaters. It was Fabulous!! We loved it! And that was May in a nutshell! Sorry it was so wordy, that's the way I usually am.... I promise more pictures soon!

Memorial Day

I have always loved memorial day. All the flags and flowers are beautiful. This memorial day we spent with Jodi. We took flowers to Grandma in the morning and then went on to This Is The Place memorial park and played with the baby animals. It was fun! The villiage had a blacksmith and a barber, and we bought candy at the general store and took a ride on the train. After that we went home and had a bbq with our neighboors. All in all a great day. Things My Children Have Said

Shawn: "mom, why is there a fire in the oven?" Completely calm while I panic and throw baking soda everywhere...
Shawn in the public restroom with me--"Mommy, you go poop! Yeah!" * thoroughly embarrassed at every store in the county!*
Haley--"Grandma, this week you can call me Gordon."
Shawn--"Mommom, you go away." Shawn caught raiding the cookie jar.
Haley-- "Mom hurry! We can't be late for my Dance Recycle!"
Haley---"I don't think I'll have a baby, I don't like to throw things up, and a baby is too big."
Haley--"Does anyone want a turn walking Shawn?" As she holds Shawns "leash" at the zoo.
Shawn 2--"This is tasty!"
Shawn 2--Yelling at his friend in church..."mama! I go to Kelvins! My Brother! My sister!" (believes he belongs in their family!)
Haley 6--Writing in a notebook.."Mommy, this is my diarrhea.." Mom--Don't you mean Diary? Haley--"No... Diarrheal."
Haley--6--"Mark, remember that movie, you know 'Michael Jackson and the Lightening Thief'?"
Haley, 6, listening to the radio about the House being in session. It said, "After tomorrow the house will leave for thanksgiving." Haley exclaimed, "The House is leaving! Where will we live!"
Shawn, age 2, when seeing snow for the first time, "Snow! Look Chickens Flying!"
Shawn to me when I'm bending over..."Oh NO! Your Undies!" At this he pulls my shirt down to meet my pants...yikes!
Shawn, "Sheet Down!" translation: (sit down!) to just about everyone standing.
Haley-"Mom, why can't other people hear the music in my head?"
Shawn..."What doin' yodi (jodi)" and any answer is "Yep" or "Nope"
Haley in the pitch black Redwood Forest, "I am totally freaked out!"

Marky--his first day of baseball, "Mom, why do I have to run around the bases, it seems dumb if I end up where I started!"
Marky--"I was playing rock, paper, scissors and Shawn cheated!"
Haley and Mark talking on the "Phone" (hands in ears) Haley--Helllo...is this Mark? Marky--No this is Brad....silence..Haley--Brad who?
Marky--"You know, in kindergarten Kashia really liked me....but we seperated in the first grade, she's in another class. Now Megan thinks I'm cute...Meeeeeggannn....ahhhhh she's cute. giggle"-heheheh
Marky after doing me a favor, "Yeah, I know I'm good. I just can't help it!"
Haley to Shawn, "You just don't understand!"
Mark and Haley Playing, Mark: "Haley, I am Harry Potter. (pointing stick at Haley) SILENCIO!" ..Haley just stares at him, Mark :"Good, now you can't talk." He goes on reading.
Mark--drawing a picture--"Look mom, these are fierce landscapers, they hunt birds and deer!" I reply.."Landscapers?" he says, "Yes! You know those people who hunt!"
Mark--"Mom, did you know that this used to be a lake?(salt flats) And if it were still here we'd all be under water? Wierd!"
Shawn--"What's this?" --to just about everything...;)
Haley, "Mom, I want to change my middle name to Ginger." -huh?
Driving down the highway(maybe in the twilight zone), listening to the news on the radio with my kids I started when suddenly it cracked then went silent. A voice came over the radio and said "Erin, Erin are you there?" Mark exclaimed. Mom! The car's talking to you.
Mark explaining to Haley what happens in a cemetery, "You die, then they bury you in a box, then you turn to dust, but you don't mind because your brain is in heaven!"
Marky in a Prayer, "We thank thee for Shawn that he could grown in mommy's tummy we really really like him, and want another."
